68' New Horizons Ketch
Welcome to the most beautiful place, where trade winds whisper in your ear and the star studded skies light the way. Where the cool sea breezes usher in each warm Caribbean day and puffy clouds open to an occasional rainbow. Where angelfish swim at your side as the sea sings its own spirited reggae. Where flamboyant trees dot the landscape with a blaze of orange and some of the most beautiful Caribbean sights await you as you sail from island to island, each with its own special character.
No worries, no stress, just pleasure... come enjoy the freedom that is chartering Liberte! The large shaded cockpit makes dining on deck a delight; while boarding ladders both amidships and on the stern give easy access to the water. Liberté's Crew Capt. Gordon Monson Gordon Monsen, your Skipper is 58 and started sailing at the age of 12 in an old wooden sloop which he bought for ten dollars in Cape Town, South Africa. He has represented South Africa in World Competitions in Hawaii, France, the USA and at home, and raced the 1993 Cape-to-Rio Trans-Atlantic. He is a qualified marine surveyor for Lloyds of London and specialized in marine losses. Gordon has sailed in excess of 100,000 nautical miles, has completed 8 major ocean crossings and has worked, chartered and sailed the islands of the Caribbean for 10 years, from Trinidad in the south to the British Virgin Islands in the north. Hobbies and interests are, predictably, sailing and meeting interesting people, water-sports and reading.
After completing high school with merit and university exemption, Lizane
decided to qualify herself in Equine stud management in Johannesburg.
During this student period she also To quench her thirst for traveling Lizane completed her first of two Atlantic Ocean crossings, working as crew and later as first mate on yacht deliveries from Cape Town to Tortola BVI, to obtain her Yacht Master offshore certification. A few more crossings followed from France and Bermuda. With about 15 000 nautical miles of blue water sailing she longed for solid ground again. Lizane put her past experience of waiting tables during school holidays to good work in England and quickly became the assistant bar manager at the Grand Junction Arms in London. Her traveling spirit took her all the way to Texas USA, where she worked at a veterinary clinic. Back in the UK Lizane passed the relevant course and became the live-in carer of a frail elderly lady in Surrey. Lizane moved to Canada for a while and worked as a horse riding trail guide on Prince Edward Island. Love for the ocean recalled Lizane and she embarked on a new career as a chef on a charter boat for a big company in the BVI and later for a private boat. Although not officially trained as a chef, but armed with her hostess/ stewardess training and lots of memories from cooking, baking and entertaining at home, her knowledge of fine food and the additional exposure during her travels to places like Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Mauritius, Portugal, Spain, Ireland and Whales have assisted her to adapt her South African recipes to local perfection. Chef Lizane is known to serve up a meal with flare. Lizane is artistic and creative, she paints and sketches, takes photographs, read thick books, enjoys music and can dance the night away. Having experienced diverse cultures and people, Lizane has the ability to make any person feel welcome and relaxed. Although relatively young Lizane is building on their existing good reputation for service delivery to guests to ensure that guests return for another dream come true experience in the BVI.
We are happy to have this energetic and charismatic young man join
our crew. He is eager to please, comfortable at both work and play,
and enthusiastic about all things to do with sailing and the sea. Jacques
has a penchant for putting people at ease and strives to go that extra
step to make guests feel at home in any port. He can just as easily
serve up a cocktail on deck as guide you to the best snorkeling spot.
His love for the sea is contagious and his hospitable nature reassuring.
